Alice Flynn (she/they) is a 25 year old, Irish theatremaker based in Reading, UK. After founding Dogmouth Theatre in 2019, Flynn has been working across various capacties in the theatre industry for almost 5 years including as a producer, reviewer, director, marketing officer and performer. However, her main craft is writing; in 2020, Flynn spent a year with Broken Silence Theatre as their writer in residence and went on to receive a shortlist nomination for the Women’s Prize For Playwrighting in 2021.

She specialises in work revolving around Queer women’s stories, disability and psychology. Her writing tends to focus on themes of cosmic and folk horror, often with a darkly comic flair. As a director, she is particularly interested in working alongside solo artists, helping them create semi-autobiographical work based on their lived experience

Her work has been staged at VAULT Festival, King’s Head Theatre, The Pen Theatre, National Student Drama Festival, Old Fire Station Arts Centre, Camden People’s Theatre and Brighton Fringe Festival. In 2023, Dogmouth Theatre became Associate Artists of the University of Reading.

Outside of her theatre practice, Flynn can occasionally be found performing at drag and cabaret shows as Tony Baloney, a character she devised in 2022. She is currently working as a director and dramaturg on SamDoesTheatre’s new Arts Council Funded project, Creepy, which was co-commissioned by Cambridge Junction. A work-in-progress sharing of Creepy is due to take place on 21 March at Camden People’s Theatre as part of SPRINT Festival.
